...I'm a puddle this morning

...we worked on home projects ALL weekend!

My sweet husband finished everything that I asked him to (& more) and I so appreciate him. (Here he is with his little buddy, Gary.)

All of this work has me thinking..while I love my home and I love making it beautiful and I love blogging & seeing what everyone else is up to..I can't lose sight (none of us should)

of LIVING...

...of getting OUTSIDE and PLAYING!

I'm a worker bee, that's for sure, but I'm going to MAKE myself not start another project for a few days and....

relax...

Maybe a week...I don't know, we'll see how long I can last. Of course, all of this relaxing will start after I've posted what we finished...

Making progress....

I started Fit Camp at my gym yesterday..at 530am..yes, a.m., I was up before the roosters! It kicked me square in the teeth..and that was just the assessment! I was told by other women who were veterans that it's brutal. Great - I'll just add that to the mix of what wears me out! But, you know, I'm happy because I'm doing what I really enjoy. I have had enough peaks and valleys in my life to recognize the good times and I'm in them right now. Praise the Lord!

To the task at hand, here are a couple of snapshots of my dining room as of 10 minutes ago...there is a pile of crown molding for the bedroom that will go up this evening....

There's my bestie, the vacuum cleaner..I have affectionately named the Terminator.

A before shot of my dresser...you can see all the paint swatches on it..it took a little time to figure out how I wanted to paint this furniture. It's a rainy day here so no sunshine to brighten my rooms..or this picture.

Here is a peek of the finished chest of drawers.

Yes, I have picked up MORE projects to stuff in this house!

I bought this door for $20..I love the knob & old fixture. It's about 9' tall..I don't know what I'm going to do with it. I'm thinking sofa table, maybe? I need to take a trip to Ikea for table legs.

There is a family in my town that are antique dealers and they have yard sales pretty often. I try to go every time because they ALWAYS have fabulous stuff. I picked up these school lockers for $25. I'm thinking these will go in my son's room. His room is coming along but I need to do alot of painting and Brian will do some building to give it a customized look. I thought these would look cool painted red.

Last but not least, a vintage tool box on casters. This would look good in a kitchen but we'll probably use it for tools...how boring.

Ok, that's me & my day. Hopefully, the bedroom will be finished in time for a Friday reveal...I am definitely working toward that goal! Have a good Tuesday everyone!

What's to come...

Just popping my head out of a can of paint to say hi. I'm just past the "what have I done" stage in redecorating my bedroom. I have painter's hand..it actually hurts to hold a paint brush or roller..I'm just pushing through the pain! This has to be finished before next week because it's going to get busy for me at work and I can't goof around.

The walls are painted and ready for the new window molding & crown molding. I have to paint baseboards & install the quarter round. We've reupholstered the headboard, repainted the bedside tables, a side table, I made a curtain for the closet, touched up the ceiling and gave my hopechest a facelift. I still have to paint the dresser and chest of drawers or chester drawers (depending on where you're from).

Here's a peek at where we are....

And we're still happily married
All is well!

Bookcase Rehab

I saw an article on MSN this morning and the headline read, "Is your backside on the flat side?" They should try going up & down a ladder all day patching holes & sanding..that'd do it!

On to the project, my mom bought two bookcases for my sister and has assigned them to me to "fix"... I have finished one of them & here it is...

Before:
It has holes in it already for cords/wires that will be nice for lamps.

After:
I painted it white and on the inside used Wythe Blue from Benjamin Moore, then finished with a charcoal glaze.
The shelves were decoupaged with vintage sheet music that were
inspired by this post by Miss Mustard Seed.

I love vintage sheet music..the text & color variations are so charming.

That island from last week sure came in handy. I had this project all over the house!

Here's a close-up of the glaze. I mixed it and that was trial & error.
I learned alot from this one!

So I can check this off my list...this weekend I'm painting the master bedroom. I have prepped the walls, picked out the paint & psyched myself up to finish in one day while my husband is at a karate tournament. Wish me luck!

I'm party linking to: Miss Mustard Seed's Furniture Feature Friday,
and Frugalicious Friday at Finding Fabulous, Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch & Make It For Monday at Cottage Instincts...follow the links to see what everyone has been working on!

SPRING has SPRUNG!!!

My husband and I are fortunate enough to have this Good Friday off. After sending our son off to school, we enjoyed our coffee while listening to the birds singing and took in all the blooms. God has been good to us...

We planted this weeping cherry tree last year after a couple of large pines fell.

This is the first bloom season..I can only imagine how pretty it will be when it's mature.

Pretty pink bells.

Brian got a beautiful shot of the dewy petals.

What a way to begin your day - wishing the best for everyone!

Loot from HFH

It pays to be a "chatty Kathy"...I saw the lady who works at Habitat for Humanity in the grocery store this week. She told me they have everything for 50% off until the end of the week..so I booked it on down there and picked up some cool stuff.

This can be a good 'before' pic of the front porch. As soon as pollen season passes we're fixing that...fortunately, the crappy paint job on the porch doesn't take away from the pretty Lillies of the Valley that are blooming in the background.

I love the enamel top on the table. I can always find something to do with old coke crates. I've seen rolling pins used as wall art..I need a few more, but maybe I'll give that a try.
I'm gonna put a candle in the glass dish.

I already have a few things situated...

The table went in my laundry room..I'm going to paint the legs later.

I totally copied this from Donna at Funky Junk Interiors.

Add another to the stack!

Happy Easter and enjoy the weekend!
